And of course, there is the much-anticipated Night Glow, when all pilots gather and light up the night with the flames of their burners.
As night falls, the balloons come together to thrill the crowd with a contagious rhythm of lights, sound, and blazing propane flames. No one will want to miss seeing these machines up close.
Events and Competitions
With 35 years of history, Torres is considered the Brazilian Ballooning Capital and the leading reference for the sport across Latin America.
Pilots from several countries come to join the celebration and chase the coveted competition prizes.
The Most Beautiful Beach in Rio Grande do Sul
Of course the most exciting festival of all needs a setting to match, and Torres is perfect for it.
Pilots and visitors agree: the city is one of the most perfect settings for ballooning.
The landscape blends seaside cliffs, dunes, parks, ecological reserves, and the mountain range of Rio Grande do Sul into something breathtaking.
How it all began
The Torres Balloon Festival began from Febanana, a local agricultural event that started in 1989 and, from its second edition onward, brought in hot-air balloons as a promotional attraction.
The balloons were such a success that they soon earned an event of their own: the 1st South Brazilian Balloon Festival. With each new edition the Festival grew, and today it is the city's greatest tourism landmark besides the beaches, of course.
