Before the construction of the concrete bridge that allows cars to travel between states, the suspension bridge was the only connection between the cities of Torres and Passo de Torres(SC), as well as the ferryboat which operated a few yards from the bridge.

Historical Curiosity: On the suspension bridge opening day, it didn’t support the weight of the authorities and locals and collapsed. No casualties, but the fact is that, with such allegorical characteristics and with some imagination, the event was incorporated into local folklore.

Torres Suspension Bridge is considered one of the touristic points in town. Made of wood and steel cables, only pedestrians can go through it.
